Sea turtles play an important role in our ocean ecosystems by helping maintain the health of our oceans and making them more resilient to future threats. Currently, our organization has an urgent need for new and improved facilities. In 2011, we released 776 rehabilitated sea turtles into the wild & hosted over 84,000 visitors into our facility. Our hospital facilities are inadequate for the growing number of injured and non-releasable turtles, and public viewing areas are terribly overcrowded. Our vision is to be perceived as a world leader in sea turtle recovery and education through our expanded facility (completed in February 2017) at South Padre Island, and to further contribute to the conservation of sea turtle populations worldwide. Below you will find the exciting plans for our expansion. Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions for our sea turtles.
